Washington

We are having such a great time and seeing so many beautiful sights. I don't know what to post.

We are camped at Randle, WA with mountains all around us and Mt. St. Helens to our south and Mt. Rainier to the north. Oh no, where do we go first. Before we get to the mountains, there is a beautiful field of Tulips that I have to show you.

Yesterday, we took a drive towards Mt. St. Helens but we couldn't get there. Water was over the road and so we took a detour. Well we went a few more miles and another detour, water over the road again. We decided we wouldn't get to see the mountain up close this trip.

Today was a typical day in Washington, overcast and gray but we decided we'd see if we could make it to Mt. Rainier. Oh yea, forgot to tell yawl, they average about 620 inches of snow on Mt. Rainier each winter and it's melting but some of the roads are still closed. We did make it up to Paradise and the Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center. That's only 22 miles inside the park but most of it was going up. It was great!

Yes, they still have lots of snow and it creates Glacial River.

This is the 14,410 foot Columbia Crest before the clouds covered the top.

Oh what sights you are getting to see. Last summer, we had to make 3 trips up Mt. St. Helens before we saw the new dome growing in the crater, never did see Rainier since we had too much rain.
